Le pianiste Sullivan Fortner, lauréat d’un Grammy Award, a sorti Aria (2015), Moments Preserved (2018) et Solo Game (2024), tous acclamés par la critique, ce dernier ayant reçu 4 étoiles dans DownBeat et Telerama Magazine.
Son album Southern Nights, sorti en 2025, met en vedette Peter Washington et Marcus Gilmore. Lauréat du DownBeat Critics Poll 2024 dans la catégorie Rising Star Jazz Group : Sullivan Fortner Trio, ce natif de la Nouvelle-Orléans a travaillé avec Wynton Marsalis, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Paul Simon, Diane Reeves, Etienne Charles et John Scofield, Ambrose Akinmusire, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Stefon Harris, Kassa Overall, Tivon Pennicott, Peter Bernstein, Nicholas Payton, Billy Hart, Gary Bartz, Chief Adjuah et Roy Hargrove.
Ses œuvres et ses réflexions ont été présentées dans des médias culturels influents, du New York Times à The Root. Il a également reçu le Cole Porter Fellowship de l’American Pianists Association, le Leonore Annenberg Arts Fellowship, le Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, la Shifting Foundation Grant et la Western Jazz Presenters Grant.
