Enfin, pour la toute première fois, la grande création Qawwali-Flamenco atterrit à Montréal.

Qawwali-Flamenco fait dialoguer deux traditions musicales profondément habitées par la spiritualité, à travers la rencontre de Faiz Ali Faiz, grande voix du qawwali et héritier de Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, et de Chicuelo, figure majeure de la guitare flamenca contemporaine.

Issus d’une lignée de sept générations de qawwals, Faiz Ali Faiz et son ensemble perpétuent une tradition vocale profondément enracinée au Pendjab, qu’ils font rayonner sur les scènes internationales. Chicuelo, guitariste et compositeur reconnu, a accompagné de grandes voix du flamenco tout en développant un langage musical singulier.

Née il y a plus de vingt ans, leur rencontre artistique poursuit aujourd’hui son aventure, explorant les résonances profondes entre la ferveur mystique du qawwali et la force expressive du flamenco.

Portées par la voix, la guitare et les percussions, ces deux traditions se rejoignent dans une même quête d’intensité et de transcendance, où le chant et le rythme devient transe et la musique, un dialogue entre l’humain et le divin.

Aux côtés de Faiz Ali Faiz et Chicuelo, les chanteurs Tomás de Perrate et David Lagos, ainsi que le percussionniste Juanito de Modaux, donnent vie à cette rencontre musicale exceptionnelle.

Finally, for the very first time, the major Qawwali-Flamenco production is coming to Montreal.

Qawwali-Flamenco brings together two musical traditions deeply rooted in spirituality through the encounter between Faiz Ali Faiz, one of the leading voices of qawwali and heir to the legacy of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Chicuelo, a major figure in contemporary flamenco guitar.

Descended from a lineage of seven generations of qawwali musicians, Faiz Ali Faiz and his ensemble carry forward a vocal tradition deeply rooted in Punjab, bringing its rich heritage to stages around the world. Chicuelo, an acclaimed guitarist and composer, has accompanied some of flamenco’s greatest voices while developing a distinctive musical language of his own.

Born more than twenty years ago, their artistic collaboration continues to evolve, exploring the profound connections between the mystical fervour of qawwali and the expressive power of flamenco.

Through voice, guitar, and percussion, these two traditions come together in a shared quest for intensity and transcendence, where singing and rhythm give way to trance, and music becomes a dialogue between the human and the divine.

Alongside Faiz Ali Faiz and Chicuelo, singers Tomás de Perrate and David Lagos, together with percussionist Juanito de Modaux, bring this extraordinary musical encounter to life.
